CeramicAR - An AR Online Art Exhibition Experience

Role: Software Developer, UX Designer, Creative Technologist

Timeline: 2 weeks (2021)

Tools: Xcode, Swift, and AdobeXD.

Github Files: Ceramic AR

Team: Carina Claassens (ceramic artist) and Priscilla Nini Ikhena (software engineer and ux designer).

CeramicAR, as seen in British Vogue (March 2021 Issue), is an augmented reality (AR) iOS application created by Nini Ikhena, that brings to life the thoughts, memories and concerns held in the ceramic cube memory series exhibition (shown below) created by ceramic artist, Carina Claassens. Each unique cube addresses a memory, thought or concern, and comes with its own unique AR experience, which is a guided and reflective visual journey through the layered meaning behind each memory cube and the way these meanings intersect with our own realities. For each memory cube, one is able to have a visual AR experience that provides more context about the cube, and interact with it in a way that leads to not only a deeper understanding about the memory, concern or subject to address that the cube presents, but also a reflection on what roles one could play in a given system at large.

This project has been created as a collaboration between Carina and Nini, with the purposes of fusing Ceramic Art with Augmented Reality to raise awareness on a variety of subjects.
